The Advice That Changed Alex Rodriguez’s Life for Good

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez shares a long relationship with the organization, which started with him joining the club at nine. At the event, A-Rod shared his experience with the club’s young members.

Talking about his struggle in high school, A-Rod said, “In 9th, I got cut from my baseball team, but I felt like a reject. I was 15 years old. I wasn’t developed; I was 6′ 1 and 160 pounds.” Further, A-Rod opened up about the club’s role and his coach’s motivation.

He continued, “The first day I met Coach Hoffman, he said, ‘Alex, here is what’s gonna happen. You are gonna be a rising sophomore this year. You are gonna have a good year this year, not great. But then you are gonna lift weights; you are gonna get in the best shape in your life.” Rodriguez said that from the day forward, his life was changed. 

The 14 times All-Star MLB veteran further talked about the support received from the club.

Boys and Girls Club of America Shaped A-Rod Beyond Baseball

In a press conference after the event, A-Rod said that he learned to play baseball at the professional level at the club. Showcasing the significant of the organization in his life, he said that the club taught him not just to play baseball but also to be a better person and a better father.
