In layman’s terms, fWAR is a statistic used to measure how valuable a baseball player is to their team. It combines their offensive and defensive stats to give a single number representing their overall contribution. The higher the number, the better the contribution. It is used to compare players and help determine their value to a team. And when talking about adding value to their team, it will be difficult not to talk about Derek Jeter. However, recent fWAR data suggests that the current Mets shortstop has a better record than the Yankees legend.

Recently, a Twitter conversation pitted Francisco Lindor and Derek Jeter against each other in a comparison of their fWAR numbers at 28 years old. Lindor’s fWAR came out to an impressive 42.0, while Jeter’s was still an impressive 32.5. It’s clear that both Lindor and Jeter have been integral parts of their teams.
