The New York Yankees finished the 2022 MLB season one step short of making the World Series. The Yankees played well during the regular season, finishing at the top of the AL East. They made it to the American League Championship Series, where they were beaten by the eventual World Series winners, the Houston Astros.
The Yankees will be having a busy offseason ahead of them with Aaron Judge hitting Free Agency. In addition to that, they will want to improve the team to make a run at the World Series in 2023. The Yankees are reportedly showing interest in a free-agent starting pitcher who may be a good addition.

New York Yankees show interest in free agent Jacob deGrom
The New York Yankees are reportedly showing interest in former Mets pitcher and free agent Jacob deGrom. deGrom had a decent 2022 season that was delayed by an injury in spring training. He is widely regarded as one of the best pitchers in baseball in recent years.

deGrom would be a great addition to the Yankees’ bullpen and would make them one of the best starting lineups in the league. But Yankees fans have dividing opinions on whether the team will get the deal done.

Means nothing. They do this every year. Kick the tires, announce it so their fans get excited, then make excuses as to why it wasn’t a good fit.

The New York Yankees are a team willing to spend money, but this may be a difficult deal to do. deGrom would reportedly rather sign with the Mets and will only leave if they don’t make him a good offer.

The Mets will likely offer their star pitcher a huge contract to keep him from leaving. Especially if deGrom is joining the Yankees. Although Jacob DeGrom is showing a preference for the Mets, it will all depend on their contract offer. If the Mets lowball him, the New York Yankees may just sweep in and sign him.

Although there is a possibility that the Yankees sign deGrom, it seems highly unlikely that a deal would happen. deGrom is most likely going to resign with the Mets.
This is for two reasons, firstly the Yankees will not want to engage in a bidding war with the Mets. Secondly, the Yankees would rather focus on re-signing Aaron Judge to a new long-term deal.
