Surprises, injuries, dejections, and comeback wins have filled the 2023 MLB season. And with MLB nearing its trade deadline, trade rumors are the latest addition. Despite fans eagerly awaiting updates on several stars’ futures, the primary focus remains on Shohei Ohtani. The two-way phenom is one of the few players in MLB to get all the success since his debut. Given his skills, the Japanese star is in tremendous demand, and multiple teams are in the lineup for him.

Though because of his skill set, the price tag is more than half a billion dollars, and only a few teams can afford it. Few of them include the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, and the New York Mets, who have shown eagerness more than any other. All this added to the competition surrounding the Los Angeles Angels star. But MLB legend Dwight Gooden might have ended the conversation with his latest post.

Legendary Mets Dwight Gooden fuels Shohei Ohtani trade rumors

Shohei Ohtani made it to the highlights by choosing the free agency. Although it opened the door for other teams to have him on the team, the New York Mets always have their gear up. Everything from their owner Steve Cohen to the management plan to sign Ohtani made them the star’s likely destination.

Now, the former MLB legend Dwight Gooden, has added another chapter to this conversation with his picture with Ohtani on social media.

The Mets have planned to trade their three prospects to make the Ohtani trade possible. It includes their number 1 prospect, Kevin Parada, third baseman Brett Baty, and others. In reverse, they will sign Ohtani, third baseman Anthony Rendon, and two more players.

The deal can happen before the trade deadline. But given Ohtani’s recent performances, the trade price is likely to increase. And if they are serious, would Doc play a role in it to make it happen? Only time can tell.
