MLB legend Derek Jeter is one of the very few individuals who believes in giving back to society. Long before becoming a baseball phenom, the former New York Yankees captain instituted the Turn 2 Foundation to help the youth to lead to a healthy lifestyle. Now, it’s been almost 27 years since then, and the foundation has succeeded in changing the lives of hundreds of kids from New York and surrounding areas to reach their full potential.

Now, when the reigns of this non-profit are in the hands of his younger sister Sharlee Jeter, the foundation continues to launch several programs to help more and more kids. The foundation, in one of its initiatives to raise money for the kids, has announced the Derek Jeter Invitational Gala. Hence, it is now announcing the names of people who would be joining the Gala to help reach more people. And Jeter, being who he is, not staying behind in this mission. Therefore, he ecstatically introduced one of his long-time best friends as an emcee of the Gala.

For those unversed, Martinez has been a popular radio show host for over two decades and has interviewed countless celebrities, such as Jay-Z, Beyonce, and many others. Known as the voice of New York, Martinez also hosts the podcast, Angie Martinez IRL, at which Jeter appeared last year.

Although it is unclear how and when exactly Jeter and Martinez met, one thing clear is that they met through their works in the entertainment industry. The two have been friends for years and have also talked about each other on multiple occasions.
