Derek Jeter‘s story is an inspiring story of dedication. This man has achieved whatever he wanted throughout his career. From 5x World Series Championships to a $200M business, he has marked the spots wherever he stepped in. No matter what he has achieved, the MLB legend never denied his roots – his parents.

Jeter was always been a disciplined and well-manned person. Despite the allure of success and fame, the Yankees hero sought out his parents after his World Series win. All the appreciation and wishes seemed to fade in front of his desire to find his parents. Derek Jeter: The Life You Imagine recorded the legend’s emotional moment with his parents after the iconic 1999 win.

The 5x World Series Champion’s Childhood was different than other kids. Generally, parents scold their children for their dream to be a sportsperson. However, Jeter’s parents had always been supportive. They knew and supported their kid to become a baseball player. So, the legend also wanted to share all his success and achievements with his parents. From 1995 to 1999, The Yankees had three World Series Championships, and Jeter contributed in all. Years later, when he remembered the moments of his 1999 iconic win celebration, he shared his emotional moments with his parents.

Page number 7 of the book recorded that after the game ended, players had been celebrating and appreciating each other. But the icon was looking for “something else.” He was looking here and there for his parents, and he finally located them in the hallway. Captain Clutch revealed, Everything was a blur and I’m not sure how I got to them, but I must have climbed over a few people and nudged aside a few others.”

The former Yankees captain again focused on the emotional celebration they did, which he still remembers. He expressed, “My parents’ eyes were moist when I reached them, still clutching a bottle of champagne.” He goes on to remember, “We never said anything about what had happened against the Atlanta Braves in Game 4 that night because we didn’t have to. I didn’t need to remind them about my childhood dream at that moment. We squeezed each other, knowing what this amazing journey meant for us, acknowledging where it had all started without saying a word. Our hugs were real tight. They spoke for us.”

He even once revealed how his parents supported him during his childhood with his dream of baseball.

The MLB icon grew up in Kalamazoo. There was no scope to practice baseball, but still, his parents never prevented him. instead, he once revealed, “They didn’t even have to open the door to know I would be playing baseball on the hill.” He used to eat, sleep, go to school, and play baseball. That was his routine that his parents never forced him to change.

Though he was considered to be a bad influence on other kids, he was also a Pied Piper for the development. Jeter’s parents never tried to shape his career according to their wish, he bloomed as he wanted.
