‘I Just Always Felt Like It Was 3-0’- Derek Jeter Hilariously Draws Attention to the Pitcher He ‘Owned’ on the Baseball Field During Legendary Yankees Tenure

Derek Jeter was not the best hitter in baseball, but he knew how to get the job done from the plate. Having played for the New York Yankees throughout his baseball career; Jeter won everything a baseball player can dream of.

Best known for his leadership, Jeter was also a good hitter in the game. One thing that stands out about Derek Jeter is that he always prioritized the team ahead of himself. And that is the main reason why the Yankees fans still adore him.

Recently, the former Yankees captain made an appearance on the KayRod Cast with his ex-teammate Alex Rodriguez. When Michael Kay asked Jeter which pitcher he owned from the plate in his baseball career, Jeter had a very humble yet hilarious response.

Watching Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez together was more of a nostalgia for the Yankees fans. When Michael asked Jeter which pitcher he owned, Jeter had the classiest response. First, the former Yankees captain denied that he ever owned any pitcher and then he revealed the name of the pitcher he was most comfortable with.

“I wouldn’t define it as owned, I would say most comfortable batting against Shigetoshi Hasegawa. I just always felt like it was 3-0, you know, regardless of the count,” Derek Jeter said.

Notably, Shigetoshi Hasegawa played for the Seattle Mariners and Anaheim Angles (now, LA Angels) between 1997 and 2005.

And when asked about which pitcher he feared the most, Jeter took the name of the legendary Hall of Fame pitcher, Roy Halladay. A two-time Cy Young Award, 8-time All-Star, and an MLB Hall of Famer, Roy Halladay, had a legendary career in Major League Baseball.

Talking about Derek Jeter, the Yankees legend is also a Hall of Famer. He had a memorable career with the Pinstripes. The two completed each other.
