Playing for the New York Yankees is different from laying for other teams. Being an MLB player is difficult on its own due to the expectations that fans have. Furthermore, if someone disappoints fans, they boo them and that’s not easy to deal with. But Yankees fans are on a whole different level. Both in terms of how much they love the team and the heavy expectations that they put on the players. One retired Yankees player recently shared his opinion on the same.

Nick Swisher, who played four years for the Pinstripes and was also a part of the iconic 2009 World Series-winning team, opened up on playing for the Yankees and one thing that he misses in particular.

During a recent appearance on Talkin Yanks, the former Yankees right fielder opened up on his time playing for the Yankees. Swisher recalled his experience with fans and said being a Yankee player was a whole different ballgame. He said “I mean listen, you know, from my myself I was able to play for 5 different organizations in my career. And the pressure is no, it’s not even close. Being a New York Yankee is definitely up there at the top and I think that’s something that you have to understand coming in.”

But although Yankees fans may be more intense, that doesn’t lessen their devotion to the team. They are happy when the team wins and sad when the team loses. Most recently Yankees fans were relieved when their star man Aaron Judge signed his new deal to stay with the team.

Aaron Judge: The Captain

Recently, Aaron Judge was also named the next Captain of the New York Yankees. A position that has remained empty since Derek Jeter retired in 2014. Given Jeter was extremely successful during his tenure, the expectations won’t be less from Judge either.
