With spring training already back in action, every team is trying to reach their full potential before the regular season starts on March 30. Some of the players, despite trying their best to live up to the fans’ expectations, are not receiving admiration from their respective fan bases. One such player would be the New York Yankees’ center fielder Aaron Hicks. Having made his MLB debut in 2013 with the Twins after showing subpar play, he got traded to the Yankees after the 2015 MLB season.

From that moment, he started to rise and live up to his potential and fans’ expectations of him. But that didn’t last long. Last year’s regular season wasn’t any better, either. Being prone to injuries is one of the reasons that center fielder Hicks has not played well in the past few players. Almost every athlete indeed goes through a slump during his career. But in Hicks’ case, it’s been too long of a stretch. That’s why when the Yankees slugger hit a two-handed home run against the Tampa Bay Rays, he failed to garner the admiration from the fanbase.

New York Yankees slugger has a lot to do to prove himself
The Yankees fanbase is indeed one of the biggest in the entire big league. However, it is also true that it can be ruthless at times. It’s true that Aaron Hicks has failed to show what he’s capable of doing. Also, whenever he does try, the fans fail to recognize his talent.

I just hope this adds to the trade value, but also hope he does well with us this season too
— NDIsThatYou? (@NickDIZASTER_) March 4, 2023
Instead of appreciating their player for trying his best, the fanbase spoke so less of the athlete. However, there are a few people who think that this home run might help increase his trade value.
Before the 2022 season, Hicks betted on himself to have a 30/30 season. But he failed to complete his bet because of getting injured in the middle of the season. Thereby unintentionally giving the fans yet another chance to mock him.
