The Boston Red Sox broke the “Curse of Bambino” off by winning their first-ever World Series championship ring in 2004. They advanced to the World Series by winning over the New York Yankees in ALCS. From 1938 to 2022, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox have been the fiercest rivals in the history of Major League Baseball. Hall of Famers Derek Jeter of the Yankees and David Ortiz of the Red Sox faced each other in ALCS 2004.

A reminder of losing a game is tough enough. But if that loss was against one’s fiercest rival, it hurts even more. And that is what happened to the Captain, Derek Jeter. It happened when he came as a guest on Fox Network ahead of the third game of the World Series 2022.

As soon as the show started, Derek, without wasting any time, asked Ortiz to do something so that the show could begin.

What did Derek Jeter say to David Ortiz?

Everyone in the baseball world knows about the fierce rivalry between the Yankees and Red Sox. And how it is not easy for the players to even stand against each other without commenting. Therefore, even before the show started, Jeter must have noticed Ortiz sitting beside him, wearing a ring representing the 2004 World Series win.

Considering it obviously was not easy for Jeter to have to see that and get reminded of the pain he felt eighteen years ago. As soon as the show started the first thing Jeter did was say“Thanks for having me. Well, let’s first start with sticking this (ring on Ortiz’s finger) somewhere else.”
