The loss of Roger Craig has already left a big void in the Giants community. They have now lost another legend of the game that graced their jersey, Bobby Bolin, who passed away on June 2, aged 84.

Former Giants ace Bobby Bolin leaves for heavenly abode

The news of Bobby Bolin’s death was shared by the New York Post. According to them, the cause of the death has not been specified. It is saddening news for the Giants as they have lost one of the original inductees to the Giants Hall of Fame. Bolin grew up in South Carolina and was a Dodgers fan. But a professional opportunity made Bobby sign for the Giants. He played for nine seasons after making his MLB debut in 1961.

Mostly played as a reliever pitcher, Bolin performed exceptionally well. He was consistent with his performances and made it to the top 10 in the National League for his lower ERA, shutouts, and winning percentage.

San Francisco Giants Earn Best Record in 138 Years With Win Over San Diego Padres

The 1962 NL pennant winner once exclaimed, “I was never classified as a starter or as a reliever, so I mostly sat on a tarp between the bullpen and the dugout because I didn’t know which one I’d be doing.”

The skilled pitcher performed his job brilliantly during his over a decade career. He registered his name as one of the fine pitchers of that time.

A look at Bolin’s glorious 13 years as a profound pitcher!

Bolin played over 495 games, starting 164 of them. He has a win-loss record of 88-75. Bolin pitched during 1567 innings and claimed 1176 strikeouts. He also claimed 50 shutouts during this period and has a career bWAR of 18.9. The 84 also played for the Boston Red Sox for four seasons after spending a 1970 season at Milwaukee.

Bolin is survived by his family, including his wife and his as well as two children and other members. The 84-year-old leaves behind a powerful legacy that will continue to inspire future players. Given that the Giants are currently fighting for the championship, it would be a fitting tribute from them for their two legends. Will they achieve it or not? Only time will tell!
