The Red Sox’s chief baseball head’s position is still empty. The ailing team looking for the right leader was rejected by the now-former GM of the Miami Marlins. Kim Ng pulled the plug on the opportunity that the New York Yankees’ arch nemesis presented to her soon after the news of her resigning from Miami came out.

While Boston has been grappling hard to find Bloom Chain’s replacement, Kim is stirring up the fans with a familiar move. The 54-year-old’s name is not one to be taken lightly, having rebuilt the Marlins from ashes and finally bid farewell. What’s surprising is that while quitting, she sounded quite like the man who hired her. Derek Jeter.

Backstory For Kim Ng’s Sudden Decision To Move

When Miami hired Ng in 2020, she was the first female general manager in baseball history. However, she departed the company since, speculatively, the team intended to appoint a president of baseball operations to supersede her in the front office. As reported by The Athletic, Ng said, “Last week, Bruce (Sherman) and I discussed his plan to reshape the baseball operations department. In our discussions, it became apparent that we were not completely aligned on what that should look like. I felt it best to step away”. With that, Chris Cotillo, a Red Sox journalist for MassLive.com, shared how Boston was quick to approach her, but “Kim Ng declined the chance to interview with the Red Sox”.

The situation that Ng found herself in was similar to that of the former Yankee and 5X world champion. Jeter said the organization’s path “was not what I had signed up for” when he departed his position as the team’s CEO a year ago. It is highly likely that Kim and Derek had a discussion about the future of the Miami Marlins. Moreover, with Kim moving out, the state of Miami might be unpredictable. Given that, it was only in recent times that they tasted success.

Ng’s trades for aces like Josh Bell and Jake Burger made the Miami Marlins an unexpected playoff club. In fact, Sherman, the owner of the Miami Marlins, commended her when the team secured a postseason berth, saying, “It’s not easy being in her role at all. Could you picture that? Baseball’s first female general manager in history. Incredible. Additionally, every trade move has been flawless”. Amid the incomparable laurels that this lady achieved, not choosing a failing team, Red Sox, might be the wise thing to do. With that, fans’ comment flurry started.

Fans Opinions On Kim Ng Rejecting Boston Red Sox

After the latest disaster involving the Red Sox management, the Twitter (now X) community didn’t hesitate to mock the team.

One fan called her a “Queen” for choosing not to go with the Red Sox.

Other fans called the Sox Nation a “poverty organization”.

Some were curious about her future plans. They tried speculating on the reason behind her rejecting an offer.

There were fans who also scoffed at the Marlins’ decision.

The Red Sox critics were not subtle about jabbing at the team’s management.
