The much-awaited MLB Field of Dreams is returning for the second time this Thursday. The trailer itself is enough to show how interesting the match is going to be.

The trailer showed the fiercest rivalry between the Yankees and the Red Sox via their former players, Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez and the Hall of Famer, David Ortiz. 

In this year’s Field of Dreams match, Chicago Cubs will be playing against the Cincinnati Reds. The first edition of the field of dreams was played on August 12, with the Chicago White Sox beating the New York Yankees. 

Why is the Field of Dreams game popular?

In the year, 1989, an American sports drama movie came out. It portrayed a farmer building a baseball field in his cornfield in Iowa, which attracts the ghosts of baseball legends. 

MLB commissioner, Rob Manfred, took a trip in 2016 to the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa for an MLB promotional tour. While visiting the fan-favorite location, he thought playing a game there just makes sense, so he started the procedure.

Finally, in August 2021, a regular season match between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox was played there. The game was pretty successful and had the most viewership of a game since 2005.

The trailer is now out for the second game of the Field of Dreams match. It showed the Yankees v/s Red Sox rivalry by Alex Rodriguez asking,“Papi, would you play a little catch with me?” To which, Ortiz replied, “Oh, you want to have a catch with me? HELL to the no! You’re still a Yankee, I’m with the Red Sox. That will never happen son.”

The much-awaited match is going to be played between the Chicago Cubs and the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday at 6 pm ET.

A throwback tribute?

Both the teams Cubs and the Reds will be playing the game on Thursday while wearing the throwback jerseys that their teams used to wear in the early 1900s.

Therefore, they have revealed the look of the jerseys on their Twitter handles. While the Reds will be wearing the jersey worn in the 1914 season. And the White Sox will be wearing it from 1917-29 seasons. 

It does look like it is a tribute to their respective teams.
