‘There’s Only One Derek Jeter’- MVP Front-Runner Aaron Judge Once Gushed About Former Yankees Captain for a Humble Comparison

Aaron Judge has been the best thing that happened to the New York Yankees after Derek Jeter’s retirement. Considering his decorated career, it is almost impossible to replace what Jeter achieved with the Pinstripes. But Judge is the only person who has come close to his legacy.

Even though unlike Jeter, Aaron Judge is yet to win any championship, the Yankees slugger carries a similar mentality to the former Yankees captain. But long before Judge established himself as one of the finest players in MLB, Jeter had praised the young Yankee for his leadership skills and playing qualities.

Notably, it has been over eight years since Jeter bid farewell to baseball. But the Yankees are yet to find a proper shortstop. However, they have got Judge who can win games on his own.

Back in 2017, Aaron Judge had nothing but respect for Derek Jeter

Even though Aaron Judge made his MLB debut in the 2016 season, he had his breakout season in 2017. It was the best season in Judge’s career until he smacked 57 home runs this year.

Knowing that Jeter had praised him for his wonderful outings, Judge also appreciated the former captain. However, when it came down to comparison, the Yankees slugger preferred the best Judge rather than the next Derek Jeter.

When talking about his current season, the Yankees slugger is a favorite to win the coveted American League MVP. Having smashed 57 home runs already from the plate, Judge has a fine opportunity to break the single-season home run record (61) in the American League.
