During the Yankees’ West Coast trip, the Aaron Boone-led side clashed against the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 3. Everyone is waiting for the swelling to go down, which happens slowly when the injury is in the foot. The official diagnosis reads that it’s a contusion and sprain of the toe but no fracture. While the progress is slow, the team is clearly hopeful, even if there haven’t been any conclusive updates. In fact, even the manager doesn’t seem to know what exactly is going on.

Although the Yankees put the captain on the 10-day injured list, most fans think it’s an overestimation. After all, Judge himself gave a cryptic update, stating there’s no strict timetable for a return. Because apparently there’s more to the injury than meets the eye. Even Aaron Boone doesn’t know what’s happening.

A few days ago, it was revealed that Judge had received a second platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in his toe, this time in a different place. “My understanding is, the ligament should heal over time,” Boone told MLB.com. “Any time you strain or tear in the ligament, it takes time to heal that. PRPs hopefully speed that process up. Hopefully, he’s continuing to move in the right direction.”

But ultimately, even the manager doesn’t seem to know exactly what’s going on with his player. However, it seems like there’s a good reason for that – a federal law.

Now it’s just a waiting game to see when the swelling goes down, which could take from the next week to four weeks. Although Boone said Judge could return before the July 11 All-Star Game, nothing seems certain.
