With Aaron Judge Injured, New York Yankees Turn to Miami Marlins Outfielder in Sensational Last-Ditch Effort to Save Their Season

2023 is just not the year for the New York Yankees. After being hit with one injury after another, the Bronx team seems to be struggling. April started out okay with Harrison Bader, Luis Severino, and Carlos Rodon out for the count. But now that Aaron Judge has been placed on the injured list, things are not looking good. After the captain strained his hip because of an awkward slide into second base, rumors were swirling about updates.
After missing a few games, the outfielder will presumably miss the next several games. The Yankees have inside options to use in place of Judge, but could they do better than Franchy Cordero and Jack Bauers? Last year, the Miami Marlins were rumored to be in trade talks with the Bronx. Will they finally do it now?

The outfield is going to be a vulnerable place with the absence of Judge, and Brian Cashman understands that. In November 2022, the Marlins’ Pablo Lopez was apparently on the market with the Yankees waiting to scoop him up. But the Marlins reportedly pulled out of the trade that might have given them Gleyber Torres at the last moment. Now, it could be Jorge Soler’s turn.

It’s pure speculation, but Soler could do some good in Pinstripes. Empire Sports Media recently published an article judging the merits and demerits of the imaginary trade. Soler is a power hitter and batted .207 with a .295 on-base percentage and achieved a 98 wRC+ last year. Not only that, but he also drove in 34 runs, hit 13 home runs, and had a 29.4% strikeout rate.

The Miami Marlins would need a tempting trade in exchange
Giving up Soler would mean getting equally good-quality players in return. So who do the Yankees have that could entice the Marlins? Alexander Wilson of Empire Sports Media thinks it’s Double-A starting pitcher Blas Castano and Triple-A power hitter Andres Chaparro.

Castano pitched 105 innings for Hudson Valley and High-A last year, boasting a 3.49 ERA with 101 strikeouts and 33 walks. On the other hand, Chaparro has already driven in 14 runs and hit eight home runs this year.
Now the question is, are the Yankees ready to trade?
