Ryan Garcia is embroiled in a massive war with Dillon Danis. The undefeated boxer promised to deal with the MMA fighter who has been constantly commenting on his videos. He appeared in a conversation with Ariel Helwani and challenged ‘El Jefe’ to a showdown in an “MMA ring.” This prompted Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh to hit out at the 20-0 boxer.
In response to Ryan Garcia’s tweet saying “I’m going to MMA to knock out Dillon “whoever that is” Danis,” Kavanagh made a bold declaration. He said, “If you could last 1 round in an MMA fight with (Dillon Danis) I’d retire and never train again.”

Ryan Garcia is a KO artist
Garcia is no stranger to KO’s having won 17 out of his 20 boxing matches in that fashion. Furthermore, he claims to have wrestling experience. Also, he would no doubt incorporate it into his training should an MMA match be part of his itinerary. Kavanagh retiring would help Garcia retire 2 people as he earlier promised to “retire” Danis’ career.

Whilst MMA is a whole different world, strikers do have a say. However, ‘El Jefe’ would guarantee the fight goes to the ground where he would have the upper hand over the Lightweight professional boxer.
It seems unlikely that Golden Boy Promotions would let their man enter a cage fight at a different weight (Danis fights at Welterweight). However in combat sports money talks and can be a huge motivator.

‘King-Ry’ last competed in February this year. In his bout against Francisco Fonseca, he delivered a KO blow to walk out with his WBC Silver Lightweight Title. The fight which lasted a mere 80 seconds was 18 seconds shorter than his clash against Romero Duno where he claimed the belts.
Meanwhile, against Danis in MMA, ‘King-Ry’ will be at a massive disadvantage. The fighter has competed just twice and won both fights via submission. Holds will be a whole new ball game for Garcia who will have to rain down punches with speed and accuracy before a takedown attempt if he is to send both ‘El Jefe’ as well as John Kavanagh into retirement.
