Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez was disqualified in his recent fight against Iuri Lapicus. ‘The Underground King’ ended his 20 months-long hiatus from competition at ONE on TNT. However, it ended rather quickly and unexpectedly.
Alvarez faced ONE Championship’s former lightweight title challenger, Lapicus. ‘The Underground King’ was looking to secure his own shot at the belt with a win, but he will now be forced back to the drawing board to plot his way to promotional gold. After a quick takedown in round 1, Alvarez unloaded a barrage of punches on his opponent. The referee deemed those strikes illegal and ended the bout.
