Dana White recently announced in the press conference that the UFC would be letting go of around 60 fighters. Fighters that are on the older side and are on losing streaks were most likely going to be the targets. Yoel Romero, who was on a 3-fight skid, was one such athlete who got cut from the UFC recently.
‘The Soldier of God’ is without a doubt one of the scariest men to have ever entered the octagon. Romero was a freak of a human and possessed astounding knockout power in both his hands.
Despite being a silver medallist at the Olympic games, Romero never used his wrestling much. The power in his hands was more than enough for most of his opponents.

Cormier responded with, “I mean that seems pretty high but okay I’ll take it. I mean, I’ve taken 50% credit for Fight Island…. I called Scott Coker and I’m like, ‘Yo Scott, you don’t want him? Could you imagine ‘Rumble’ Johnson vs Yoel Romero at 205? Like they’re both out there and you don’t want him?’ ”
After being released from the UFC, Romero was one of the hottest free agents on the market. Initially, Scott Coker was not interested in signing Romero stating that he was focusing on up-and-coming talent.
