Chase Hooper Reveals Issues With Daniel Cormier and Joe Rogan Commentary

Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier form the bulk of the commentary team for all major UFC events, along with Jon Anik. Cormier is a former world champion, and Rogan is one of the most respected men in the sport. However, they are also very frank on commentary, whether it is warranted.
Chase Hooper, who won his bout against Peter Barrett at UFC 256, feels that they were overly harsh with their commentary.
.@chase_hooper admits "it was brutal" listening to Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier’s commentary at UFC 256:
"To hear these people you idolize just sh*tting all over you. It's hard to deal with."

“It’s brutal to hear these people that you kind of idolize a little bit sh*tting all over you. It’s hard to deal with. Some points were valid, but I just feel like it was a little more accentuated than it needed to be. Obviously, I know I need to work on my striking, and I’m getting that situated. I’m gonna go to Thailand and get the work in that I need.”
Hooper added, “I heard they were pretty brutal the whole night, overall. It’s just a little harder when it’s about you specifically.”

Joe Rogan and Daniel Cormier: Are they too harsh?
Joe Rogan and Cormier do have a penchant for getting carried away during commentary. However, this is a problem that almost every commentator in MMA faces. One cannot say that Michael Bisping or Dominick Cruz don’t have a tendency to tell the fights how they see it.
However, the issue with Hooper may be a little different. He is very young and just entering the sport. Rogan and Cormier could be MMA personalities that Hooper looks up to. Them criticizing him in a fight that he felt he was doing well in could rub him the wrong way. Not in a way that makes him angry, but maybe disappointed in the treatment received.
