Former UFC dual division champion and perpetual spotlight grabber, Conor McGregor, is gearing up to face Dustin Poirier in a blockbuster trilogy bout. The duo will headline the UFC 264 event set to take place on July 10, 2021, at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
Both maestros have secured a win each in their head-to-head. The latest one came for Poirier earlier this year at UFC 257 where he became the first person to hand the ‘Notorious’ one a KO/TKO loss. Their first encounter had gone in favor of the Irishman in 2014.
Besides sharpening his game prior to the trilogy, McGregor also has upped his ante with his social media warfare. He has been sharing his thoughts through various channels to show his preparation and also taking subtle aims at Poirier.

Now, continuing the trend, McGregor again took to Twitter a shared an image of him on a Las Vegas billboard. He captioned it with, “First one to shoots a dusty bit*h.”
The tweet posted was a dig at Poirier’s strategy during their second encounter. It shed light on Poirier shooting for McGregor’s legs and hitching a takedown during the first round of their last encounter.
It took ‘Diamond’ 7 years to finally get a chance to avenge his previous loss. His plan was very simple, attack his legs, wear him down, and finally use his ferocious hands to seal the deal.
It was more of an even battle during the first round with Poirier using his leg kicks to great effect. In the second round, McGregor failed to address the leg kicks, and ultimately his leg froze, restricting his movement. Poirier took advantage and connected with a few jabs to put McGregor to sleep.
