Reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya successfully defended his crown against Marvin Vettori at UFC 263 to remain undefeated in the division. ‘The Last Stylebender’ improved his divisional stats with the 10th straight victory.
And although there’s still time for his next fight, there is no doubt in anybody’s mind who’s going to be his opponent. The Nigerian in all likelihood will face veteran Robert Whittaker in a rematch for the title.
The fight is not official yet but things have already started heating up between the middleweight greats. Recently, Whittaker appeared for an interview with dailytelegraph.com.au, the Sydney-born, had a few words on his shelves to describe the man who defeated him for the title.

“He’s definitely not a God. He’s a very good fighter, sure. But he’s not as good as he thinks he is.”
Adesanya, though, in his trademark style responded to Whittaker’s comments through his social media platform. First, he posted a video where he termed the latter as his ‘son’ with a father’s day reference. He captioned it, “Aaaahh shit, here we go again.”

In another tweet, he responded to Whittaker’s ‘not a God’ taunt by spinning out Jorge Masvidal’s trademark quote. “I might not be a god to you, but I baptized you.”

Not for the first time that Adesanya referred to Whittaker as his ‘son’. After the latter’s brutal victory over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Vegas 24, Adesanya took to Twitter and congratulated him in his own style.

Adesanya overcame a gritty Vettori via a unanimous decision. Immediately after the match, the New Zealander called out his former opponent for a rematch.
“Well, you know, the old mozzie, my arch nemesis, what’s his name? Whittaker. ‘Bobby Knuckles’. I knocked him out twice (referring last fight). I don’t know what the f*** is gonna happen with this COVID s*** but we need to run that back in Auckland,” he said.
