Conor McGregor is out of action because of the injury he suffered during his fight against Dustin Poirier. ‘The Notorious’ has been undergoing his rehabilitation process as he embarks on his road back to full fitness. The former champion has been relatively injury-free during his time in the UFC, and has always remained active. This will be the longest McGregor has been inactive because of an injury despite wanting to fight. 

‘The Notorious’ often entertains fans on Twitter and this evening was no different. The former ‘champ-champ’ put out a tweet saying, “Let’s go #asknotorious”. Needless to say, fans flocked to the platform to answer a bunch of questions. 

One such fan asked McGregor how soon fans can expect to see him back in action. ‘The Notorious’ replied, “2022. I’m improving rapidly! Working with the best team money can buy! 

I’ll be back in no time, lock loaded!”. Another fan asked the Irishman if his comeback fight would be at welterweight to which he responded, “Quite possible, yes.”

Conor McGregor and his road to recovery 

McGregor is currently in the United States, working on his road to recovery. Dana White stated McGregor would be out for the better part of a year and expects him to be back in action in 2022.

‘The Notorious’ posted an update on his recovery last week on Twitter. The tweet said, “Excellent work today with Heather Milligan of Elite Orthosport! This woman and the team here is incredible! The same team I repaired my acl with in record time back in 2013. The same team I will repair this bone with in record time! Let’s go team! @tidlsport @EliteOrthoSport”

Needless to say, when and if McGregor comes back to the sport, he will have a bevy of opponents waiting in line to face him. ‘The Notorious’ will have the luxury of choosing opponents across two weight classes. The likes of Dustin Poirier, Tony Ferguson at 155-pounds; and the likes of Nate Diaz and Kamaru Usman at 170-pounds are all excellent fights for McGregor. It will be interesting to see when McGregor makes his return to the ring and who he will take on when he comes back to action.
