Jon Jones Will Not Get a Heavyweight Match Until End of 2021 Says Dana White

In the process, he cemented his place as the greatest heavyweight of all time. However, the UFC’s conveyor belt of talent ensures that champions are never complacent and there is always a new threat lurking. Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones are some names in the heavyweight division.
Jon Jones relinquished his light-heavyweight belt earlier this year. ‘Bones’ has been posting photos and videos of himself as he aims to put on mass on his lanky frame in order to compete in the heavyweight division. Unfortunately, it looks as though it will be a while before fans can see ‘Bones’ at heavyweight.

Will Jon Jones take a tuneup fight in 2021?
In an interview, The Schmo asked Dana White for an update on Jon Jones and if fans would have to wait till the end of 2021 to see ‘Bones’ compete again inside the octagon.

Francis Ngannou has bounced back impressively from his first loss against Stipe Miocic at UFC 220. He is now on a four-fight win streak with all four wins coming via stoppage in the first round. Against the likes of Cain Velasquez and Curtis Blaydes, among others. ‘The Predator’ is the undisputed number one challenger for the title. However, he has been waiting for a title shot for a long time.

The rematch is set to take place early next year between Miocic and Ngannou. The winner of the fight will most likely face Jon Jones next after having had sufficient time to recover.

However, if Jones wishes to stay active, he could fight the likes of Curtis Blaydes, Derrick Lewis, and Alistair Overeem. If he chooses to wait for the title shot, he will have been inactive for over a year and a half and could be dealing with rust against either Miocic or Ngannou.
