Marvin Vettori has improved leaps and bounds since his loss to current champion Israel Adesanya. ‘The Italian Dream’, who is on a four-fight win streak, will aim to make it 5-0 in a few weeks’ time. However, it will not be against his originally scheduled opponent, Darren Till. The Englishman recently shared on social media that he would be out of the fight due to a broken collarbone.
‘Trailblazer’ Kevin Holland has offered his services on short notice once again. Holland, who set a record in the middleweight division last year for the most fights in a calendar year (5) has maintained the same level of activity this year as well. His most recent fight was on March 20th when he succumbed to a loss against Derek Brunson.

Can Marvin Vettori make it 5-0 against Kevin Holland?
Kevin Holland was tearing through the 185-pound division with four finishes in his five-fight win streak. However, Derek Brunson not only handed him his third loss in the UFC, but also exposed a gaping hole in Holland’s game.

Over the course of the fight, Brunson took Holland down at will. He barely put up a fight and was more interested in talking to Khabib Nurmagomedov in between rounds rather than defending takedowns. There is no denying that Holland is an exceptional striker with tremendous knockout power, but he lags behind immensely in wrestling.

Vettori, on the other hand, is excellent on the ground and has secured 56% of his wins via submission. He has averaged 1.33 takedowns per 15 minutes with an accuracy of 45%, and 0.8 submission attempts in the same time period. Hence, he will be a nightmare for ‘Trailblazer’ as he will look to capitalize on his wrestling skills and do exactly what Derek Brunson did.

It will be interesting to see how Holland copes with the wrestling of Vettori and if he puts up more of a fight than he did against Brunson.
