Miesha Tate made a stunning comeback earlier this year, after almost five years away from the sport. The former bantamweight champion returned to action against Marion Reneau. ‘Cupcake’ dominated from round one and secured a finish late in round three to secure her first win in the UFC since March 5th, 2016.
Following the win, Tate confirmed that she is here to stay and would like to fight the best of the best at 135-pounds. One name that she mentioned, in particular, was former bantamweight champion, Holly Holm. ‘Cupcake’ choked out Holm at UFC 196 to become the bantamweight champion of the world and is more than willing to give ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ a rematch.

Holm recently shared her thoughts on a potential rematch with Tate. She said, “For me, I think the Miesha fight makes the most sense because that’s a loss that I want to avenge. Even in the fight, it wasn’t one of those fights I was getting dominated in. I was winning and doing very well up until the end of the fight, and it leaves kind of a sour taste in your mouth and I want to make it right. I know Miesha is always down for a challenge, so I’m not sure why we shouldn’t make the fight happen”

Holly Holm vs Miesha Tate is definitely the fight to make
The first time the two women faced each other in the octagon was for UFC gold. Holm went into the fight on the back of the performance of a lifetime against Ronda Rousey at UFC 193. However, in her very first title defense, she succumbed to Tate.
After a brief spell in other weight classes, Holm returned to bantamweight to challenge champion Amanda Nunes. The fight did not go her way. Nonetheless, Holm bounced back impressively and is currently on a two-fight win streak. Therefore, a fight with Tate makes absolute sense for both parties involved and in all likelihood will be the next fight for both women, respectively.
