‘You Should Probably Stop The Fight’- Dana White Shows Frustration On Referee For Not Stopping Jamahal Hill vs Paul Craig

UFC 263 witnessed some of the best moments so far this year, from the likes of Terrance McKinney creating divisional records to Brandon Moreno brushing aside his underdog status to claim the flyweight championship. It had all the ecstasy for the fans to cherish otherwise left drenched because of the pandemic.
The event also received a bit of criticism too, as, in one of the main card fights, the referee came under the scrutiny of many fans and pundits alike for the bad bit of judgment. The mentioned fight took place between Jamahal Hill and Scottish submission maestro Paul Craig in a light heavyweight clash.

After initial exchanges, Craig (15-4) got the hold of the previously undefeated Hill (8-1) and snapped his left arm. Craig then proceeded with locking in the head and arm triangle and explicitly snapped it backward. He then exploded Hill with punches.
The match should have been stopped and Craig too pleaded to the referee but it took a lot of time for the referee to acknowledge. The pitiful decision came at last, and Hill tasted his first defeat.
The surprise doesn’t end here. Craig picked up a TKO win instead of a technical submission. Hill’s arm was drooping as the ref picked his other hand during the declaration.

Dana White shows frustration during UFC 263 post-fight interview
It’s always a serious case if the boss is not happy. Dana White appeared for the post-event interview and was not at all amused with the ref. He also gave some updates on Hill’s arm.
“If you believe this one because I can’t f*cking believe it. Jamahal Hill’s arm was not broken, it was dislocated,” he said.

“They popped it back in and he has a full range of motion and the guy is OK. That’s nuts.”
He continued, “You don’t know a guy’s arm is broken (points to the ref)? When the arm is flapping around like this and going both ways, you should probably stop the fight.”

White, though, was hesitant while throwing dirt on Arizona. “Arizona has been very, very good to us. I don’t wanna sh*t on Arizona… that’s a rough one. He is a local ref, I heard this guy is a jiu-jitsu black belt, is that true?” he asked the interviewers.
While the majority of the headline was taken up by the ref’s antics, nothing should be taken away from Craig’s effort. He was an underdog heading into his fight against the undefeated Hill, but he successfully came out of it.
