Bubba Wallace Discloses Why He Had to Tell Himself to Just “F**king Stop” to Prevent Catastrophic NASCAR Failure

Ever since Bubba Wallace won his second-ever race earlier this year at Kansas, he has been riding on an all-time high. He got so motivated after that win that Wallace now claims that he has started putting his on-track knowledge into everyday use, even while driving on regular public roads.

Wallace appeared on a podcast called ‘SHOWTIME Basketball’ where he said, “So when I was leading the last 60 laps at Kansas earlier this year, it was those moments, we’re gonna win. I’m feeling hey, you know f**ing stop, think about hitting your marks and make sure that you don’t set yourself up for failure. It’s super tough to do because you can start to wander in those times.”

“Especially when you can get sprung out and you’re running kinda just by your self it’s tough to do so and the mental state has to be very tough.”

Talking about using his NASCAR experience on public roads, the 23XI Racing driver said, “I’m always calculating whether it’s in the race car or on the regular roads of how to get to the destination the fastest. Not speeding but you know it’s like six can in one lane and one car in the other, this lane’s gonna move.”

“Okay there’s a semi truck sitting and the first car in line is a semi-truck and I gotta get over in 200 ft and I’m gonna beat him. So, my fiancée is starting to pick up on that, because she’s usually sitting behind in the semi, oh killing me. But I noticed now like my mind is always thinking like oh let’s see if I can subtract that car and see if I can fit in that hole and it’s always like that.”

It already was a big achievement for Wallace, as he claimed his second-ever win, also the fact that this time his win came naturally and not because of the race being canceled because of the rain.

But then we learned that Wallace had cemented himself in the NASCAR history books by becoming the first-ever black driver to have won two races in their full-time Cup Series career. Wendell Scott was the first man of African American descent to have won a NASCAR race, but Bubba managed to increase his tally to two wins throughout his career.

While for many, merely two wins in a career spanning nearly a decade seem to be nothing, however, for Wallace it meant the world to him. We hope that he is able to run more and more at the top of the field and score more wins, preferably, before the playoff grid forms.
