In NASCAR terminology, a Grand Marshal plays the role of public leader of events during a race weekend. As it turns out, Bubba Wallace has been given that honor for the NASCAR Xfinity race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
So that entails a certain number of ceremonial duties. This includes giving the command to start engines, driving the pace car, kicking the race off, or presenting the trophy to the race winner.
This weekend’s Xfinity race is sponsored by linen and uniform-rental brand, Alsco. It is also worth noting that the 2020 Las Vegas race is a historic achievement for the brand. This is because it has now been five years since it became a title sponsor for NASCAR.

“Our Las Vegas branch prides itself on providing the best quality and service. Something we know has been vital to the success of Vegas businesses for generations,” said Ben Fox, Director of Sales and Marketing, Alsco.
“We deliver uniforms, sanitizers, and more to businesses all across the valley, including the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.”
Why did they choose Bubba Wallace in particular?
As it turns out, the Richard Petty Motorsports team has been a longtime partner of Alsco. The brand always provided the team with uniforms, floor mats, and first-aid services. So, it only made sense that the brand offered the role to the sole Richard Petty Motorsports driver.

Suffice to say, the African-American driver was honored to be nominated for the role. He said, “I’m excited to serve as the Grand Marshal for the Alsco 300. As a longtime partner of Alsco, I was grateful for the chance to represent their company and NASCAR fans around the country.”
Coming back to Bubba Wallace, the #43 driver is set to start the Las Vegas Cup race in 23rd place. He is also bolstered by the news of Denny Hamlin and NBA legend, Michael Jordan, recruiting him into their new team.
