The most highly anticipated street race in Chicago has finally concluded, and it was nothing short of a hellraiser. While the Cup drivers were busy looking for the gap to squeeze in and hammer ahead in the narrow city lanes of Chicago, Supercar Championship Kiwi, Shane Van Gisbergen put on a clinical performance outshining fellow Cup drivers when he filtered through traffic, going from 10th place, at one point of the race, all the way to the top like it was a piece of cake.

Unlike what most enthusiasts anticipated, the race wasn’t just a rumble inside city lanes, with drivers recklessly banging each other and going at it. Moreover, NASCAR’s first-ever street course, Grant Park 220 itself was a splendid display of methodical racing until Bubba Wallace pushed the fans to the edge with a last-minute caution, creating quite an uproar.

With just two more laps to go, and SVG in the lead, fending a fierce Justin Haley and the pack behind him, Bubba Wallace shot himself in the foot with a last-minute overkill when he overshot the entry into the corner, slamming into an unsuspecting Ricky Stenhouse Jr to push the race into a crucial overtime.

While fans were eager for a photo finish with the Kiwi clinching his first-ever NASCAR win, Wallace’s late lap antic really riled up fans as they bashed him left and right unmercifully.

Bubba Wallace, who overshot the entry, just couldn’t control his #23 Toyota as it was headed straight into the #47’s side, burying the Chevy in the tires while Wallace recovered quickly and sped off into the fray with a folded hood. And this certainly had repercussions as fans called out the 29-year-old for his negligence.

“OMGGGGG BUBBA WALLACE YOU F**KING DUMBA**”, one fan angrily stated.

Bubba can’t do it anywhere but on a Super Speedway. Starting to think he’s overrated”

Others felt enraged by Wallace’s pity move as it pushed the race to a crucial overtime.

There were some who even dubbed him a no-talent. “The lack of talent in that 23 car has been painful to watch today,” while another user got on the offensive, mentioning the driver’s legendary boss, “please don’t come back after this season your a waste of time for jordan racing you wrecked today when you didn’t have too!”

With the late caution and over time, even Wallace’s dramatic spill couldn’t hold off a determined driver as SVG crossed the line in stellar fashion, winning his debut NASCAR race in the grand stage while Wallace finished in a pitiful 31st spot.
