In today’s modern world of motorsport racing, online banters keep the community entertained, and this is what Kaulig Racing tried to achieve with their post on X.

With Talladega race week on the horizon, Stewart Haas Racing unveiled the paint schemes for their No. 4, Josh Berry, and No. 10, Noah Gragson’s car. Interestingly, both cars will be sponsored by Overstock. Though it’s not the first time we have seen two drivers being sponsored by the same partner, this was enough for Kaulig to take a shot at their rivals given how SHR has lost on its major sponsorship deals this season.

SHR was once a powerhouse racing organization in the Cup Series garage. However, they have reduced themselves to a shadow of their former selves in the past few seasons. The departure of Kevin Harvick and Aric Almirola not only left a big void for the team to fill but also saw some of their key partners part ways with them.

Busch Light, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Smithfield, and Gearwrench were some of the big names exiting the SHR camp. So, it’s not a surprise that the team resorts to changes in their financial model. Taking note of this, Kaulig Racing poked fun at them, stating, “SHR has the weirdest sponsorship model in NASCAR. Doesn’t make any sense economically for Overstock to sponsor two cars in the exact same race. This isn’t Formula One.”

But the intent here wasn’t to troll SHR, they were only adding to one of the hilarious NASCAR memes. Digital Gashouse by NRF Productions unintentionally started the trend by calling out a similar sponsorship strategy the RFK Racing team put in place.

However, there was confusion regarding the message by the Kaulig team, and fans were unable to join the dots.

Unable to decipher the intended message by Kaulig, a fan was quick to shut them down, “Wow! Pretty weird for you to be commenting on how a certain company is deciding to spend their money… Why do you care?”

Another user was able to identify the whole plot and intent behind this post, “Understood this reference, but only barely. This was a deep cut.” Adding to this, a fan was disappointed with how the community forgot about a great meme, “How quickly we forget our culture, great meme”.

Disgusted by Kaulig Racing’s action on X, a user tore into them, saying, “Kinda of a childish cheap shot on y’all’s part @KauligRacing. Be thankful that someone like @marcuslemonis sees the value in help he’s providing these teams. No different the monster or basspro giving several different teams sponsorship”.

Recalling similar tweets in the past and being able to decode the meaning behind the banter, others added, “YESSS THE MEME LIVES ON!!”, “Hey, I’ve seen this one before. 😉

What do you make of this trolling by Kaulig Racing? Do you think the NASCAR community needs to bring back memes?
