JR Motorsports has always boasted of having some of the most talented drivers in the country in their Xfinity Series program. Dale Earnhardt Jr has certainly had a keen eye for talent, which has been proven time and again. While a team owner will always like their drivers to focus completely on their full-time role, JR Motorsports’ 19-year-old Sammy Smith will be participating in the Truck Series this year on a part-time basis with the fast-growing Spire Motorsports.
Four Truck Series races on the calendar for Dale Earnhardt Jr’s star
The 19-year-old will take part in four Truck Series races with Spire – Martinsville, North Wilkesboro, Indianapolis, and Milwaukee. Speaking about his new role in NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt Jr’s recruit said that he was looking forward to the new challenge and is hoping to deliver good results for the team right off the bat. While TMC Transportation will sponsor the Martinsville race, Pilot Flying J will do the same at North Wilkesboro and Golden Harvest will sponsor the other two races.

Last year was his rookie season in the competition and he was driving for Joe Gibbs Racing. Smith won one race in the year and finished P6 on the points table. His move to JRM came as a surprise considering how good he ran last year, but the teenage sensation is looking to make 2024 count.

Dale Earnhardt Jr is a proud multi-time championship-winning owner in the Xfinity Series and he will be expecting racing of the highest quality from Sammy Smith. The former JGR star believes that he picked up quite a lot from his debut season in the series and will be looking to win multiple races in 2024.
“I learned a lot last year. Getting to new tracks for the first time — and I was with a new team last year, too. I think that was a combination of both, and every time we went back to a track for the second time, I feel like we performed better and got the car better. I think I was more prepared going there for the second time,” he said as per NASCAR.
