Toni Breidinger’s new sizzling venture

The 25-year-old speedster has frequently turned heads on the racetrack. Toni Breidinger has been known for smashing barriers and stereotypes in NASCAR, usually dominated by hot-headed male drivers. Being the first Arab-American woman racer, Breidinger holds 19 United States Automobile Club (USAC) victories. She also became the first woman to clinch the most top-tens in ARCA – 23 so far, and there is a long way to go. Now, Breidinger is making jaws drop on the other side of her career. Recently, she was named one of SI Swimsuit’s newest athlete models for the 2025 edition.

Barely two days after this spectacular news, Toni Breidinger clinched a spot in Issue 06 of Circle Zero Eight, featuring the most influential athletes of 2024. Indeed, Breidinger’s 4th-place ARCA Menards Series rank places her on par with other sports influencers who were also featured in this magazine issue. For instance, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone shattering records, Léon Marchand’s swimming dominance, and Wimbledon champions Carlos Alcaraz and Barbora Krejčíková. Breidinger is featured on one of the four exclusive covers, which also include Robert Lewandowski in European football, Cam Whitmore, Houston Rockets’ rising star, and artist Corbin Shaw.

Reversing the narrative with power moves

True, NASCAR has hosted women drivers since its very inception. Sara Christian was the first female driver to compete in NASCAR’s top division in Charlotte, in 1949. She qualified 13th and finished 14th in a Ford owned by her husband, Frank. However, the female names that followed her have been few – including Ethel Flock Mobley, Louise Smith, Vickie Wood, and Danica Patrick. So striving to reverse the male-dominated narrative is a feat in itself – which Toni Breidinger is fearlessly doing. The Toyota Racing Development driver’s goal is to drive full-time in the Cup Series someday. She already competed in NASCAR races in just one day during the 2023 season.

And Breidinger wishes to lay a path of possibilities for women like her. After debuting in Daytona in 2021, she expressed her wishes. “I’m honored and excited to be the first, but don’t want to be the last, I hope I can pave the way for future female Arab drivers as well.” MJ Day, SI Swimsuit editor-in-chief, shared the powerful ideal that Breidinger represents. “An extraordinary lineup of powerful female athletes…This remarkable group, featuring Olympic medalists, world champions, and record holders, embodies the next generation of all-stars poised to transform the world of sports. They defy stereotypes and champion equality, inspiring young girls to envision themselves as both athletes and leaders.”
