After a pretty disappointing start to the season, Alex Bowman took the checkered flag at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, edging ahead of his teammate Kyle Larson. Bowman was once again in the right place at the right time following a late restart and a couple laps long duel with the defending champ.

However, Bowman once again found himself at the receiving end of a post-race tirade from a Joe Gibbs Racing driver. The 28-year-old was called “a hack” by Denny Hamlin after his win at Martinsville last season.

And this time around, it was Kyle Busch. He said of Bowman on his radio, “The same f***ing guy who backs into every f***ing win that he ever f***ing gets, backs into another f***ing win. Bull shit!”

But once again, Alex Bowman teased that his reply to Busch could very well be the same as his reply was to Hamlin – a t-shirt.

Bowman had turned Hamlin’s “hack” remark into a t-shirt slogan last season. And it’s possible that the same treatment could once again be applied to Busch’s rant, although this one would take more space on the t-shirt and it wouldn’t come in children’s sizes.

Alex Bowman shakes off the dust of Daytona and Fontana in Vegas desert

In his post-race interview, Alex Bowman admitted he had a lot of weight off of his shoulders after this win. “Yeah, especially how we started the year. Obviously Daytona and Fontana didn’t go well for us,” he said.

Bowman added, “Happy to be able to get a win this early. The strength of the Hendrick cars this early has been great.”

The No.48 driver revealed how there are so many “unknowns” this year with the Next Gen car. “There’s a lot going on,” he said.

But at the same time, Alex Bowman remains optimistic for the season ahead of him.
