The first road course race of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season is right around the corner and your usual suspects of potential race winners are nowhere in the picture. Road courses have never been most stock car racing stars’ forte. There are only a few that have ever mastered the art of navigating through an actual circuit and Tyler Reddick is one of them. Fans have the same belief about the 23XI Racing but sometimes, they can suggest some pretty wild things.

Race fans are always heavily invested in their sport and that dedication reaches a new high if there is money involved. For the driver of the #45, that is true ahead of the race at COTA. Last season, Reddick proved his worth on such road courses so it is no surprise that fans are putting their money on him to go out there and do what he does better than anybody.

Speaking at the pre-race press conference in Austin, Tyler Reddick spoke about some of the fan interactions he has been a part of. Apparently one of them suggested the #45 driver wreck competitors on track so that they could win a head-to-head bet that they had placed. But such words have always been a source of confidence for the 23XI Racing star.

“If anything, it just adds to my confidence coming into the weekend but it is always interesting to hear the fans mention it. Probably my favorite one is hey, don’t screw up today, I have a lot riding on you. I’ve even heard fans say hey, you need to go out there and wreck someone cause you gotta beat them head to head. Obviously, I don’t take their advice but it is pretty funny how the fans love to chime in and let you know what they’ve got riding on you,” he said.

However, fan interactions are what makes NASCAR what it is today. According to the 28-year-old, there is a fine line but at the end of the day, the sport is nothing without the passionate fans.

Betting in NASCAR has always been prevalent since the sport’s early days. The fact that fans have enough faith in a driver to put their money on them must be a matter of pride and motivation for them. For the fans as well, it gives them, something more to think about than just watching an event that they are not a part of.

“There’s a fine line to it, obviously the technicalities of it. You have to be careful with it but everyone loves watching March madness, the amount of options you have and the teams you can follow. It’s just a way for fans to interact within the race, have their own race within the race. As a fan, you have a lot riding on the line when you’re cheering for your favorite driver but once you put your pocketbook on the line too, it adds the excitement for the fans it seems,” Reddick added.
