Denny Hamlin seems to be in the spotlight yet again! His popular Action Detrimental revelations and the recent happenings in NASCAR seem to have brought the driver onto the stage. After the race in Atlanta, Denny is back in his studio sharing his thoughts.

In the latest episode of his podcast, the Joe Gibbs Racing Driver briefly talks to his longtime friend and co-host Jared Allen about their game plan and what went wrong.

The #11 Toyota Camry driver gives fans some insight about the team’s plan while also talking about his teammate, Tyler Reddick, and how things played out in Atlanta.

Denny Hamlin talks about the team’s strategy

The race at Atlanta was quite eventful. While Joey Logano claimed the top position, the Joe Gibbs’ Toyotas No. 11 and No. 45 came in at sixth and fifth. In his podcast, Denny revealed the ‘strategy’ his team had formed and what eventually transpired.

When Allen asked, “So does manufacturers matter?” Denny explained, “It does, I think, I think we at Toyota made a strategic bad move, I heard Reddick speak about it in his post-race like it sounded like they were trying to get me clear of Joey [Logano] and I think with a few laps to go, I was briefly clear of Joey on the inside line and the Toyota’s led by, I think it was led by Reddick.”

He added, “Yep and they, I was behind Bill, I think they were trying to move down to the bottom but something, you know we always have our spotters telling in our ears when the car behind us is pushing when they are clear.”

“And I’m thinking that it’s possible that they told them that I was not clear then they stayed up the racetrack which then let the bottom wide open for Joey to just take a big run and make a run towards upfront.”

“So yeah certainly we could be better.”

Even when the veteran and his teammate managed it to the top 10, Denny still feels there is scope for improvement.

Later in the podcast, Denny shared his thoughts about how the drivers perform even when the tides are changing. Acknowledging the ‘numbers disadvantage’ he truly believes that his team has far more potential.

With his new teammate Tyler Reddick coming into the frame, the Toyota’s are looking to take things up a notch.
