“It’s a Little Late for That” – Freddie Kraft Reveals How Bubba Wallace Was a Bad Influence on Ty Gibbs

With Kurt Busch out of commission, Ty Gibbs took the reign for the #45 car. And he got to drive alongside Bubba Wallace, who was in the #23 car. Of course, it would have been a great learning experience for the Xfinity sensation, right?

Nope. Apparently, Bubba was quite a bad influence on him.

And the things he taught Gibbs would probably affect his reputation even further.

In a recent episode of Door, Bumper, Clear! Bubba’s spotter, Freddie Kraft, talked about the one thing he shouldn’t be learning.

He said, “I think Bubba told him how to use that maneuver where you just go three-wide and see what happens. Cause that’s what it looked like.”

“He’s like, ‘just plug the bottom, it’ll work in the beginning because everybody will be stacking up and that late restart’. And I’m like, oh boy he’s taking that advice now, it’s a little late for that.”

But of course, Gibbs had a great run till the playoffs in the #45 car. And he will be going back to compete in the Xfinity playoffs. However, when it comes to the Cup Series, Wallace’s #23 car couldn’t make it to the playoffs. Yet, he’s racing for the championship. How? Let’s find out.

How is Bubba Wallace still competing for the championship despite not qualifying for the playoffs?

Well, Wallace fell short of points and wins with the #23 team. And that includes the car as well. But that doesn’t mean the driver is out of the playoff equation.

As you might know, there are also the owner’s playoffs. Luckily, 23XI Racing as a team owner still qualified for the playoffs, thanks to Kurt Busch and his #45 team.

Of course, Kyle Busch’s brother is still not able to race because of his concussion-like symptoms (which is why Ty Gibbs was driving the #45). With Wallace being a perfect driver, and still performing very well, the team thought it was a good idea to put him in the #45. This is because as long as the team is eligible for the playoffs, it doesn’t matter who is driving the car.
