This past week’s Cup Series race at Las Vegas was a strong outing for the younger group, including Noah Gragson and Ty Gibbs. While Hendrick Motorsports ace Kyle Larson put on a dominating performance, outclassing the field and leading 181 laps, Gragson and Gibbs got in a spectacular top-10 finish by edging out seasoned drivers like Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr, and Joey Logano.

If we talk about Joe Gibbs’ grandson specifically, the 21-year-old has gotten two top-10 finishes in three races and is proving to be a competitor for veterans. Reflecting on his strong show, former Stewart-Haas Racing driver and Fox Sports commentator Kevin Harvick shared his honest take on the young gun’s performance. Speaking on the ‘Happy Hour with Kevin Harvick’ the Cup Series champion gave Ty Gibbs a piece of advice that can change the course of his career and mold him into an even better driver.

Much like Dale Earnhardt Jr, who strongly believes Ty Gibbs’ best days are ahead of him, Harvick is also of the same opinion. In fact, when his co-hosts asked him about Gibbs’ Las Vegas performance, the veteran couldn’t help but say the obvious.

Despite Gibbs’ recklessness and brash demeanor, which includes picking fights with seasoned drivers, Harvick did not hesitate when he said, “I’m on the Ty Gibbs train.”

After a rather decent rookie season, where the 21-year-old almost made it past the regular season, he is back this time to prove his mettle to the world. Reflecting on the young gun’s show, Harvick said, “I think he’s going to win.” He further added, “He’s got the speed, he’s got the race craft, he’s just got to put it all together, and it’s very similar to Blaney, right?” 

With Harvick foreseeing Ty Gibbs’ bright future, he also offered a piece of advice to the youngster that will possibly save him from a lot of trouble.

Gibbs has age on his side, but what he lacks is experience. Oftentimes, tensions flare high with the youngster going all out, blowing a fuse to let his frustrations be known. Surprisingly, the driver didn’t hold back when the driver on the other side was his teammate, Martin Truex Jr.

Touching upon Ty’s recent tussle with Truex, Harvick said, “I mean, he and his teammate, they got frustrated. He was frustrated with his teammate this weekend on the radio with Martin Truex (Jr) and…the way that they were j**king those cars around and you could visually see the frustration with the maneuvers that they were doing with the car and the radio backed that up.” 

Dropping a piece of advice for Joe Gibbs’ grandson, Harvick said, “I think if he can just stay off the radio. I think it would do him a lot of favors if you could just learn how to yell at himself. I think that would go a long way with him because then he wouldn’t have to answer all the questions during the week about something that he said.”
