As the Texas excitement draws to a close, fans are now focused on Talladega. Coming out of the dizzying crash-filled ruckus of Sunday’s race, it’s time to forget the sound of engines for a while. Hopefully, the GEICA 500 will have fewer crashes and the creative paint schemes of drivers will be highlighted.

One of the first Talladega paint schemes to be announced is of 23XI’s No. 45 team. Tyler Reddick, sponsored by Michael Jordan’s brand, always hikes up expectations with his snazzy car looks. Now, fans are surprised as the new look resembles a luxury car brand.

In 2023, Frontstretch ranked the year’s top ten best car paint schemes. Tyler Reddick’s car for the Las Vegas playoff race notched a place among them. Bold colors were splashed all over to make for a one-of-a-kind design. Inspired by the Retro Jordan 8 shoes, the snazzy ride screamed basketball.

Ever since Jordan joined hands with Denny Hamlin to create their racing team, fans were pumped to see the Jumpman’s logo shine bright on one of their team’s cars. Now ahead of the Talladega race, Reddick’s car is again the talk of the town, but for a unique reason.

The 23XI team released the No. 45 paint scheme recently, tweeting: “Nothing’s more iconic than Jordan Brand and Talladega 🤩” But fans were quick to point out something. The iconic Michael Jordan Jumpman logo closely resembled automobile giant Mercedez-Benz’s logo.

What fans said formed a long Reddit thread.

“Mercedez Benz”

“Literally had to do a 2nd take, that’s what I saw in the thumbnail image too.”

“4TH OEM CONFIRMED?!?!”

“The colors don’t help”

Mercedez Benz is currently valued at a whopping market cap of $83 million, making it the 188th most valuable company. No wonder NASCAR fans were stirred. Twitter fans also did not rest without triggering a hilarious chain of comments.

“I swear I thought it was Mercedes-Benz at first.”

“I just woke up, and for real thought that was a Mercedes Logo. Back to bed I reckon. 🛌”

“bruh it looks like a Mercedes logo🤣”

The Jordan Brand is famous for its stylish sports footwear, most notably the Air Jordans. 23XI Racing co-owner Denny Hamlin confessed to owning hundreds of them. Yet Michael Jordan went a step ahead to further promote his footwear brand.

For last year’s Bristol race, the Jordan Brand sported a brand-specific paint scheme on the No. 45 car body. It was supposed to promote the new Air Jordan 3 “Medellin Sunset” shoe. Released in collaboration with Colombian singer J Balvin, the off-white shoes had a multi-colored print with Balvin’s logo, resembling Tyler Reddick’s car design.

Hopefully, Reddick will sport the snazzy new Jordan scheme on Victory Lane in Talladega this weekend.
