NASCAR Insider Urges Fans to Get Their “S**t Together” as Phenomenon Unseen for 15 years Hovers Over Horizon

Going back to the roots, NASCAR recently announced a detailed schedule for the 2023 Cup Series. And it’s interesting to note that the formerly abandoned Northern Wilkesboro Speedway will be hosting an All-Star race in May next year.

In a recent podcast episode of Dirty Mo Media, NASCAR driver Noah Gragson and spotters Freddie Kraft, TJ Majors, and Brett Griffin expressed their views on the same. According to Noah Gragson, the race can be shifted to another track like Texas. Although Freddie Kraft said that Wilkesboro has always been his favorite track.

Further, Kraft pointed out that abandoning Wilkesboro had led to alienating a lot of NASCAR fans. Seeing NASCAR’s decision as going back to the roots, Kraft was glad that the races were back on the short tracks. However, TJ Majors pointed out that people might be worried about parking and traffic at such an old racetrack.

To this, Brett Griffin immediately replied that he didn’t think that would be a matter of concern. He said, “I am gonna tell you what they are gonna be worried about. It’s ticket sales. Because they are gonna sell this race out within 30 minutes.”

He further added; “So, where are you (NASCAR) gonna put this and how are you gonna arrange this for twentyish thousand people to be able to buy them the minute they release.”

Explaining how this is going to be a historic event, Griffin continued; “But I am telling you right now. When they turn this website on and say tickets are on sale at 10’o clock, they are gonna sell. We have not had this (massive) demand for ticket in 15 years.”

However, he also warned the fans about something. He said; “This is gonna be amazing. I cannot wait for this to happen. But you better have your sh*t together because the minute you say it’s going live, it’s sold out.”

How did NASCAR get back to Wilkesboro?

NASCAR races at the legendary North Wilkesboro Speedway stopped in 1996. Back then, the governing body decided to move the racing stop to Texas. However, due to efforts by Dale Earnhardt Jr and a few other people, the raceway was able to secure American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding. And now, it will once again be a stop for NASCAR races.

American President Joe Biden signed the ARP. And an allocation of around $18 million of the state budget was sanctioned for the rehabilitation of the track. The official Twitter account of North Wilkesboro Speedway also announced its return to NASCAR.

Recently, the track hosted the Window World 125 Cars Tour event. With jam-packed stands, it was great to see the abandoned stadium come back to life again. The remodeling of the asphalt tracks is in motion and the track will be ready by May 2023 to host another NASCAR event.

Sharing the news on their website, NASCAR wrote, “Something old that is new again.” The track is scheduled to host a NASCAR Truck Series race on May 20 and a NASCAR Cup Series race on May 2021 next year.
