Austin Hill is perhaps the most popular man in the NASCAR Xfinity Series right now. The Richard Childress Racing driver won the first two races of the campaign and he only seems to be getting better. However, the 29-year-old has been advised to be wary of his 19-year-old teammate Jesse Love, who has impressed a lot of people with his start to the competition.

The former ARCA Menards Series champion was unlucky in both races but still ran exceptionally well. In Daytona, his car sustained some damage which compromised his race, and in Atlanta, he just ran out of fuel. However, he still ran exceptionally well in both events, considering his age and experience in stock car racing. And one fact that only helps his case is that he won the pole for both of those races.

It is unheard of for a rookie to get pole position in their first two outings in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, but that’s exactly what Love did. It was eventually his teammate Austin Hill who won on both occasions but according to former Cup Series racer Brendan Gaughan, Jesse Love is not a man to be taken lightly and will pose stiff competition to his teammate as he grows and develops into an even better driver than he is today.

Love is the 2023 ARCA Menards Series champion, a competition in which he won a whopping 10 out of 20 races to claim the crown. His performance drew the attention of several big teams, but Richard Childress Racing was lucky enough to get him as a replacement for Sheldon Creed. And what an outstanding investment he is turning out to be already.

During his appearance on the NASCAR Live podcast, Gaughan said, “This is a young man, what he did at that race, how he controlled it. How he controlled that field. And the poise he showed at the age he is to control the lines and all that stuff, really beyond his years so really proud of him. Excited to see what he’s gonna do this weekend in Vegas. This is the first week of okay, we get to see what we really got. No offence to the superspeedway races. Now we get to see what we have, we’ll see what Jesse Love can do this weekend but keep an eye on this boy because Austin Hill may have won both races and Austin Hill maybe leading the points and Austin Hill is also a great talent but he’s gonna have competition from his teammate over there,” Gaughan said.

His performance at the Atlanta Motor Speedway was so good that it garnered a lot of praise from Austin Hill as well, who believes that it should have been the 19-year-old in the Victory Lane instead of him.

Yes. Austin Hill won his second straight race of the season. But arguably, luck had a big role to play there. If anyone deserved to win the race, it was Jesse Love. The 19-year-old showed racecraft beyond his years as he swept the stages and looked set for his first Xfinity Series race win. However, the late caution ruined his race, as he ran out of fuel but still managed a respectable P12 finish.

“Jessie ran an awesome race. To lead that many laps, he should be sitting here. I was thinking if I can’t win, let my teammate win,” Hill said as per FOX. “He was trying to save as well, but you can’t save as much when you’re the leader.”

It will certainly be intriguing when he takes to the track again at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this coming weekend. Hopefully, he will have some luck on his side this time and will become a NASCAR Xfinity Series race winner in only his third start. Do you think Jesse Love will be able to do it?
