Former NASCAR driver and American entrepreneur Danica Patrick appeared in an episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls in April 2021. In the episode, Grylls and Patrick explored the Moab Desert.

The two of them were in the middle of the desert and decided to refuel themselves with a cooked scorpion. While waiting for the scorpion to cook, Grylls and Patrick found some time to talk. Grylls asked Patrick if it was difficult for her to go in as a girl into the world of motorsports. To this, she replied, “Well, I mean, I don’t know if I thought it was harder as much as I just ended up realizing it was (a) harder kind of thing.”

Reminiscing how she dealt with her bad days, Danica Patrick added; “I mean, everything from racing, to listening to people say things about you… to bad days on the racetrack and how to deal with them. You come back to the bus and I’d be like–(Mimicking loud crying) Oh, God. Why? 36? I’m so bad.”

Revealing what used to go inside her head during moments like these, she continued, “And you would just have these really flooding moments of self-doubt and insecurity and …yeah.” This was not the only interesting part of the episode. Full of shocks and surprises, Patrick and Grylls had a close encounter with a rattlesnake.

Danica Patrick and Bear Grylls faced a Rattlesnake

Patrick had a career that spanned over 191 Cup Series races and 116 IndyCar races. Patrick was the first female driver to clinch a pole position in a Cup Series race. Owing to all her achievements, she has been an inspiration to many.

However, Running Wild with Bear Grylls is not about her strengths behind the wheel but all about adventure and survival. And coming across surprising and scary situations is the norm in it. During the third episode, Danica Patrick and Bear Grylls came across a ‘ready to strike rattlesnake’.

In a clip shared by National Geographic on its official Twitter handle, Patrick could be seen getting ready to drive a four-wheeler with Grylls beside her. However, there was a rattlesnake in the way amidst the Canyonlands.

Grylls revealed that the snake was actually enjoying the shade of the car. Following this, he picked up the snake cautiously and carried it to a safer place. Relieved to see the snake go, Patrick immediately said, “Bear just saved my life.” After the incident, she went ahead with the drive and seemed ready to take on the desert with Grylls.
