Jimmie Johnson may have retired from the NASCAR Cup Series, but racing is something he will still continue with in 2021. The 45-year-old will begin a new chapter in his motorsport career, transitioning to race part-time in the NTT Indycar Series.

He previously signed a two-year contract with Chip Ganassi Racing, with a collaborative effort from Carvana Racing as well for his new drive. Much like every fresh challenge, he is certainly looking forward to embracing it officially come April 18.

As part of the pre-season buildup, the former Hendrick Motorsports driver has now revealed a picture of his race suit for the season on Instagram. Rest assured, the attire has an appealing look to it, as he gears up to drive in the first race of the 2021 campaign.

Ally returns once again as a sponsor on the firesuit of Jimmie Johnson

There are a few familiar elements to Johnson’s newly unveiled firesuit. For instance, financial holding company Ally makes its way to the all-blue suit, and has been a long-time associate of the seven-time Cup Series champion.

In addition, the #48 is something he will continue with in the upcoming season too. The different aspects come in the form of the team’s engine provider Honda’s logo, as well as the main crest of Carvana Racing occupying the centerpiece of his firesuit.

Naturally, moving away from stock car racing to driving open-wheel cars was always going to be a hurdle for Johnson. However, his champion mentality and willingness to adapt and learn has always enabled him to cruise past such challenges.

Johnson has undergone a series of tests at different points in time, with the most recent one coming at the Sebring Raceway. Having logged in some laps in tandem with building pace with newly refined equipment, the NASCAR legend would have gotten adjusted to the workings a little more now.

Therefore, his fans will keenly wait to see him in action at the earliest, with his old team Hendrick Motorsports already in action in the Cup Series. It will interest to see how he gets along in his ‘rookie season’ for Carvana Racing when the green flag goes out in a few months’ time.
