Despite retiring from NASCAR around five years ago now, Dale Earnhardt Jr has remained close to the sport. He is a big part of many NASCAR events, not to mention he owns a successful team in Xfinity Series.

But one other key reason in Dale Jr remaining close to racing is his podcast, Dale Jr. Download. The Hall of Famer frequently appears on his show and engages in long candid conversations that dive beneath the surface, creating a style of interviewing which is more conversational, more genuine.

Of course, as is true with such conversations, the matters or subject on hand are often heavy, emotional, and, in some cases, traumatic. Yet that isn’t to say they don’t have fun. This was something that was clear from a recent blooper Dirty Mo Media posted on YouTube with an apt title, “Dale Jr. Is Easily Distracted.”

In this blooper, the host is trying to announce a message when he gets distracted by co-host Mike Davis’ hat, something getting in the “periphery of his vision.”

After a couple of failed takes, the other members of the show begin to poke Earnhardt Jr, to which he quickly says, “Stop doing that!”

“I’m not doing anything,” Davis says as he makes a case for himself. “It’s so distracting,” a distracted Dale Jr. says.

Then the conversation turns to a fact that many viewers of the show might have noticed, but if they hadn’t, they will now. Mike Davis sarcastically asks, “Who is wearing the same brand in every show this year, shirt and hat?”

Dale Earnhardt Jr wants his show to stretch beyond motorsports

In a recent interview, Dale Jr. revealed he wants his show to not be limited only to motorsports.

“I want to create a show or a series of shows outside of motorsports. I would love to work with like a Greg Olsen on a podcast or a show about NFL football,” he said.

Earnhardt Jr continued, “I love the motorsports content, and we have so many cool ideas cooking at any given point, so that’s cool too. But I would love to have a business that operates with multiple components.”

“That would be really cool to me.”
