“From One GOAT to Another” – NASCAR Legend Jimmie Johnson’s Note to Serena Williams Amid Her Tennis Retirement Draws the Attention of Fans

It is an end of an era. 23 grand slam winner, Serena Williams, announced her retirement from professional Tennis on August 9, 2022. And since then, people across the world are sending in warm wishes and heartfelt words to one of the most prominent females in the entire sporting world.

NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson also re-tweeted ESPN’s GIF that showed Williams’ journey throughout the years.

In an article from Vogue, Williams opened up about her decision to retire from the world of professional tennis. Despite her reluctance, Williams feels that this is the right time for her to focus on other things, including growing her family. 

A symbol of empowerment for women, Serena Williams has created a place for herself in history with her exceptional talent. Leaving behind a legacy, Williams announced that she would be leaving the sport sometime after the U.S. Open.

And she bid adieu to the game at the Arthur Ashe Stadium yesterday. The match was her last, and she lost the match to Ajla Tomljanovic. Saddened by one of the world’s greatest tennis players’ departure, NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson wrote on Twitter, “You paved a path beyond what anyone could have imagined. Your legacy will live through the women you inspired for years to come. Cheers to an incredible career.”

Serena Williams and Jimmie Johnson‘s fans also reacted to Johnson bidding adieu to Serena Williams on Twitter. As soon as Jimmie Johnson posted his heartfelt message for the Tennis legend, Twitter users began pouring in their comments.

It’s great to see the wonderful camaraderie among the two great sports stars. Although the 40-year-old has said her final goodbye to her sport, Jimmie Johnson’s 2023 schedule seems jam-packed.

Jimmie Johnson will turn his attention to the 24 Hours of LeMans next year. Hoping to race for Hendrick Motorsports, Johnson’s participation is currently based on how the 2023 IndyCar schedule will look like.

While talking to NBC sports about his 2023 plans, he said; “I want to go to Le Mans. But I think so much hinges on the schedule being released to understand if I can.”
