Among all things that inspired Nathan Chen, it is no surprise that the popular movie Blades of Glory is one of them. Chen has recently revealed how the cinematic masterpiece left an impact on him.
Nathan Chen is the current gold medal champion after he made history in Beijing with his flawless performance. Chen skated to the tunes of “Rocket Man” and topped the scoreboard. Not only that, but he also made a new world record with his score.
Recently, James Corden invited Nathan Chen to the Late Late Show along with Will Arnett and it was there that he revealed how the movie inspired him.

Blades of Glory – An inspiring piece of work
Blades of Glory was released in 2007. The film told the magnificent story of two figure skaters who were stripped of their medals and right to perform. However, they discovered a loophole that allowed them to perform together.
Directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon, the movie stared several actors. Among them was Will Arnett, who played the character of Starnz Van Waldenberg, one of the antagonists.

Both Nathan Chen and Will Arnett were invited to James Corden’s show recently. There, they talked about the difficulties of figure skating. Arnett added by saying that he knew the difficulties as he played the role of a figure skater in the movie.
“Let me just say though, we did Blades of Glory, it was a lot of fun and we realized how hard it is,” said Arnett. He then asked Nathan whether he watched the movie.
“I have, of course, inspiration,” said Nathan. Blades of Glory was one of the iconic movies made on figure skating, and to know that the Olympic Gold Medalist was inspired by the movie really meant a lot.
Will Arnett was overjoyed to learn that he was among the ones who inspired this young athlete that today is regarded as one of the best in the business.
It is interesting to note that when the movie was released, Nathan Chen was just 8 years old.

Will Arnett pays tribute to Nathan Chen’s hard work
Arnett revealed that as an actor, they felt completely drained even after doing little pieces. But professional figure skaters like Nathan Chen practice a routine for years and months to perfect it.

“Doing that movie you know, it was a movie so you shoot little bits and get like exhausted. But knowing what these guys do, the athleticism is so off the charts, and it’s really amazing what you did. I am in awe,” said the popular actor.
After his successful Olympic trip, Nathan Chen will next be on a tour with the US Olympic Team soon. The Team will travel to various locations over the country and more and take the art of figure skating with them, to further inspire the stars of the future.
