Anthony Edwards has taken the NBA World by storm. At just 22 years old, Edwards has become one of the fastest-rising stars in the league. Many fans and analysts have even compared Ant-Man to Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan. Edwards has insane athleticism like MJ and he too has that killer mentality of going after his opponents.

Veteran analyst Chris Broussard reached out to Michael Jordan to see what the 6-time Champion himself thought about the Anthony Edwards comparisons. Broussard beat analyst Stephen A. Smith to MJ’s inbox and received this reply from him, “He (Michael Jordan) told me he does indeed see the similarities in his game and Anthony Edwards’ game.” That is a huge compliment for the Minnesota Timberwolves star coming from one of the Greatest players in NBA history.

However, it is interesting that Broussard was the first to get Jordan’s opinion on the discussion because Stephen A. Smith is usually the news bearer for MJ. Stephen A. has been the one advocating the Jordan-Edwards comparisons all season. In a recent segment on First Take, Smith claimed, “When I see Anthony Edwards, I see in the making Vince Carter, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan.” So, many expected Stephen A. to break the news about MJ’s opinion like he did the last time during the best Point Guard debate.

Seven Months ago, Stephen A. Smith read out Michael Jordan’s text live on air that he received at 5:44 in the morning. While the NBA was buzzing about Stephen Curry’s best Point Guard claim, Jordan texted Stephen A., “Magic Johnson is clearly the best Point Guard of all time.” followed by a detailed explanation.

The similarity between Anthony Edwards and Michael Jordan

Following MJ’s text to Broussard, it is clear Jordan also believes in the Anthony Edwards comparison. Broussard further clarified that there’s two types of players who are compared to Jordan. One is the players in the GOAT conversation, like LeBron James. However, the second type is someone like Anthony Edwards. This comparison is because of the fact that Edwards shares a stylistic resemblance to the Chicago Bulls legend. Edwards’ athleticism and playing style are very similar to MJ’s.

More importantly, Broussard claims Edwards wants to thrive on defense, just like Jordan did. Anthony Edwards might not be in the GOAT conversation with MJ, but he could pave his way to greatness with his unique skillset and competitive mindset. Stephen A. Smith also made a massive claim on First Take regarding Edwards’ potential while comparing him to Carter, Kobe, and Jordan, “He ain’t there yet in terms of the names I mentioned. But he’s coming.” What are your thoughts on Anthony Edwards being compared to Michael Jordan?
