With five straight losses, the Hawks are willing to be active during trade season. Their eyes are particularly wrapped around Anthony Davis, the Dallas Mavericks forward. Hawks are in a great position to meet the Mavericks’ demands for young players and picks. However, the Mavericks fanbase doesn’t want a Trae Young or a Dyson Daniels. They seem to have their eyes fixed on the Hawks’ former number one pick.

The situation becomes even more complicated as the Golden State Warriors are also entering the picture. Reports say they are monitoring him, but acquiring him could have them deal with some inevitable financial issues.

Even Chris Haynes confirmed the Mavericks’ affinity for Zaccharie Risacher, a former number one pick who is yet to make his impact in the league. At 6’8” with an intriguing jump shot, the French forward has started every game for the Atlanta Hawks this season. However, there’s a clash of skill sets that Risacher is currently losing.

Despite being the No. 1 overall pick, Zaccharie Risacher could be a “draft bust” as his role has diminished amid Jalen Johnson’s breakout.

The Hawks have Jalen Johnson playing at an absurd level. With Young also returning, the team wants to make a change in the dynamics. Anthony Davis provides them with top-tier rim protection and a stronger presence inside the paint. With Johnson’s growing playmaking abilities, AD is indeed an intriguing pick.

On the other hand, the Mavericks can start fresh, rubbing everything away from their Luka Doncic debacle. With salary matching, Risacher won’t be the centrepiece for any trade. The Hawks would likely have to dump Kristaps Porzingis’ salary to reach a straight deal with the Mavericks or work with multiple teams to get their preferred target.

Although Davis comes with injury troubles, he has been sensational when healthy. Prior to his exit against the Warriors, Davis scored 20 or more in five of his last six games. It’s a gamble, but one where the Hawks can manage AD’s workload with the talent they possess.

And Mavericks fans are urging their team to pull the trigger right away.

Mavericks fans want Risacher

As weird as it sounds, the Mavericks fans’ prime focus from all the talent on the Hawks seems to be the 2024 number one pick. “I don’t care how underwhelming Rissacher is as a number one pick. As part of a young core, he would be an excellent addition,” All Things Mav wrote on X. Although unproven, Risacher does have the gifts to develop.

He’s only 20, allowing the Mavericks to groom the versatile forward to fit their system. “Please Mavs just pull the trigger already man!” another fan mentioned. This comes amidst the Warriors also showing interest in the Mavericks’ big man. Clearly, fans feel the Bay doesn’t have the assets that would fit the team’s composition.

Zaccharie Risacher has a good shot, but is still a raw prospect. One Mavericks fan feels that’s all because of culture. “Mavs also have the history of culture of getting more out of guys,” a fan mentioned. At least in terms of young talent, the Mavericks’ radar has hit many bullseyes. Luka Doncic and Flagg are striking examples of their ability to develop young talent into stellar NBA players.

With the Hawks, their serious offensive threat limits Risacher’s role. With the Mavs, he could play an expanded role, with or behind Flagg. “Risacher and Flagg as your wing core would be dope,” a fan pointed out. They are both tall forwards who possess the ability to shoot the ball. The 2024 number one pick does have some work to do to adapt to the NBA’s physicality. But that’s exactly why his youth opens up limitless potential for the Mavericks.

The Mavericks themselves have zeroed in on the French forward. But they still appear to be undecided whether to trade Davis or not. If they do, the Hawks can offer a fascinating package and pieces beyond just Risacher to help the Mavericks. Do you think they should get a deal done with Atlanta?
