LeBron James and his elder son, Bronny James, are yet to share a basketball court, but they’ll soon feature together on a trading card. According to Shams Charania of The Atheltic, James and his son have signed a multiyear trading card contract with Fanatics Collectibles. As a result of this new deal, the father-son duo will release a one-of-one signed card. The card will feature LeBron James in his St. Vincent-St. Mary’s high school uniform and Bronny James in his USC Trojans jersey, with their dual on-card autographs. It will be released in the upcoming Topps 2023-2024 Bowman University Chrome Basketball set on January 19.

In addition to Fanatics, Bronny’s NIL partnerships include Beats by Dre, PSD Underwear, Klutch Sports Groups, Fast X, and Nike. However, despite the new deal, Bronny’s NIL evaluation has taken a surprise dip.

Bronny’s NIL value takes $8k dip

Back in March 2023, Bronny was the highest NIL earner in the United States, with a valuation of $7.2 million. However, the value dipped to $5.9 million in July after he sustained a cardiac arrest while practicing at the University of Southern California. While it was expected that the NIL status would go back to its pre-injury value once he made a comeback, that has not been the case so far. According to On3, his NIL value has lost $8k since the Fanatics deal. Nonetheless, he is still the highest-earning college basketball athlete in the country.

Since being back in action, Bronny has seen limited minutes and is coming off the bench. In the seven games he has played, he has not exceeded 20 minutes of play. The 19-year-old is averaging 6.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists on 44.4 percent shooting efficiency. The Trojans have been underwhelming this season so far, as they are 8-7 in Pac-12 play. Despite the statistics, teams have already started showing interest in him.

Will we witness the Decision 2.0?

According to NBA insider Brian Windhorst of ESPN, one team interested in Bronny James is the Miami Heat. Heat and James have a long history, as he played for the franchise for four seasons, leading them to four NBA Finals appearances and two NBA championships. This would make for a perfect landing spot for Bronny to develop and grow as a player.

However, it could also mean “The Decision 2.0.” James’ desire to share the basketball court with Bronny before hanging up his boots is well documented. Therefore, if Miami selects Bronny, a reunion might be on the cards for James and his former team.
