Over the years he has given out various controversial opinions about the league and he even faced repercussions for the same. In that line up, the 8x NBA All-Star made another controversial take regarding an age-old tradition. This time, the star’s opinion focused on a topic away from the NBA world.

This isn’t first time where Uncle Drew made a controversial statement away from NBA. In the beginning of the 2022-23 season, Irving shared anti-Semitic tweets. Following that he faced a hefty fine and suspension from the league. Moreover, the global sporing giant Nike also withdrew their contract with the star after his controversial take. Since then, Irving hasn’t shared any anti-Semitic comments via his social media. However, star has made several cryptic messages in the last few months.

Kyrie Irving questions age-old tradition

Kyrie Irving recently signed a three-year contract extension with the Mavs for $126 million. Following that, the star has cemented a strong place in the hearts of the Mavericks fans. On top of that, he has instantly clicked with the Mavs’ star player, Luka Doncic, right after he donned the jersey earlier this year. Amid all this positive news, he confused the Mavs fans with his cryptic tweets. However, on the occasion, he questioned an age old tradition, a day after confusing the Mavs fans.

Irving took to his X handle and responded to Canadian basketball player, Tyler Ennis’ message on the schooling system. Ennis wrote, “The concept of having kids at school for like 7 hours and then sending them home with more work to do is crazy.” In response to that, Irving expressed his views against the traditional schooling methods. He wrote, “It’s a Crazy Concept that we accept as Humans isn’t it? lol.”

He also suggested, “More HOMESCHOOLING PLEASE!” Following Uncle Drew’s comment, Ennis further replied, aligning with Irving’s take. he said, “We’ve accepted a lot of BS and scams over time… a lot of stuff we have to deal with makes no sense.”

While it may like a harmless opinion, a day before, he made a cryptic tweet confusing the Mavs fans.

He took to his X handle and wrote, “Smear campaigns are created by all the Cowards in our world,” along with a long message.

While there is any clarity on whom the message was intended, fans felt that it could be targeted on the ongoing FIBA World Cup. Some fans felt that it could be directed at Luka Doncic‘s recent exit from the world cup against Canada.
